I'm a third year PhD Candidate at the Connected Intelligence Centre, University of Technology, Sydney. My Ph.D. is related to Learning Analytics. Particularly, my research interests include multimodal learning analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence and human centred design in face-to-face spaces.
The aim of my Ph.D. study is to provide support for teams working in physical spaces. I'm interested in finding effective forms of visualisations to help tutors and groups in the scaffolding of reflection activities about teamwork skills.
Most of the teamwork support has been provided in online environments. One challenge that teams working in physical spaces face is the provision of timely feedback during or after the enactment of the activity. I am looking at how we can support teamwork effectiveness through actionable and intelligible feedback. If we can make the learning environment visible through available sensors and Internet of Things (IoT) devices, we can capture learner's and group's traces in the physical and digital environment. Thus, with these data, we can automatically generate models and visualisations aimed at supporting teamwork activities. My supervisors are Prof. Simon Buckingham Shum and Dr. Roberto Martinez-Maldonado.
Previously, I worked as a Researcher at the Information Technology Center (CTI), with Prof. Katherine Chiluiza. During this time, we explored different technologies to support the development of teamwork skills through a technology-enhanced collaborative system and to provide automated feedback of oral presentation skills.
I received a BSc in Computer Science in Ecuador, and a Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence in KULeuven, Belgium.
